Jack Kent Cook Foundation Scholarships

Must plan to enroll in a 4 year institution.

Must have a 3.5 GPA.

Must have a 26 ACT or higher.

Demonstrate financial need.

ALSPRA Scholarship

The deadline for the 2018 ALSPRA Student Scholarship is February 2.


The candidate must be interested in pursuing a public relations major, communication major or emphasis track at a university or college within the state of Alabama. The candidate must be a high school junior or senior at an Alabama public school with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Burger King Scholarship

BURGER KING® General Track - Available to all high school seniors who meet the criteria below.
Note: Employees, spouses or domestic partners of employees, and children of employees who meet eligibility requirements for the General and Employee-Based Track will be considered for an award in both tracks, but if selected, will receive only one award.

Applicants must-

  • Be living in the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico
  • Be graduating high school seniors (U.S. and Puerto Rico), graduating from grade 12 (Canada) or graduating from home school education in the U.S., Puerto Rico or Canada
  • Have a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent
  • Plan to enroll full-time, without interruption, for the entire 2018-19 academic year at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school in the U.S., Canada or Puerto Rico

MG Law Scholarship
  • The scholarship must be submitted, in full, by July 1, 2018. LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
  • Applications for scholarship can be submitted by any high school senior or current attendee of an institute of higher education (including tech schools).
  • Disclosure: Preferential consideration will be given to Georgia high school graduates especially those from Rockdale County.
  • A student aid report (if available) showing income status of your household must be attached for application to be considered.
  • Must have a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0.
  • A transcript must be attached with counselor or school representative signature for application to be considered.
  • This scholarship is a one time scholarship worth $1,000. It will be awarded August 1, 2018
  • Although not required, applicants are encouraged to submit recommendation letters and/or resumes to substantiate their application.

Birmingham Christian Family Magazine

$500 scholarship to education at any college or university.

Must be a high school senior.

Tell us in 400 words or less, "How will you use your college education to better live out your Christian faith in your community?"

Hispanic Scholarship Fund
  • Must be of Hispanic Heritage

  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for High School Students

  • Minimum of 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for College and Graduate Students

  • Plan to enroll Full-Time in an accredited, not-for-profit, 4-year university, or graduate school, during the FALL of a scholarship cycle (year)

  • U.S. Citizen, Permanent Legal Resident, DACA or Eligible Non-Citizen (as defined by FAFSA)

  • Complete FAFSA or state based financial aid application (if applicable)

Alabama GI Dependents' Educational Benefit Program

Must be the child, stepchild, or un-remarried widow of an eligible disabled Alabama Veteran and be an undergraduate or graduate student at an Alabama College.

Wendy's High School Heisman

Due in October- Seniors who excel in academics, participate in at least one school-sponsored sport, and are involved in extracurricular activies can apply online.

Horatio Alger Scholarship

Due in October- Award ranges from $7000-$22,000.  Must have a 2.0 GPA and require financial assistance for college, must be involved in co-curricular and community service activities, must display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity.

VFW Voice of Democracy Scholarship

Due November 1- For Student grades 9-12.  Ranges from $1000-$30,000.

The Voice of Democracy is open to students in grades 9-12 by the Nov. 1 deadline, who are enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school or home study program in the United States, its territories and possessions.

Although U.S. citizenship is not required, students must be lawful U.S. permanent residents or have applied for permanent residence (the application for which has not been denied) and intends to become a U.S. citizen at the earliest opportunity allowed by law.

Foreign exchange students, students age 20 or over, previous Voice of Democracy first place state winners, GED or Adult Education Students are ineligible.

Smith Family Scholarship

Due in December- For graduating Alabama high school seniors with a minimum C+ GPA who are planning to attend college in the state of Alabama and who have made a significant contribution to family or community.  The applicant must have an ACT score and completed their FAFSA before an award can be made.  The Smith Scholarship provides funding for tuition, room/board, books, study abroad opportunities, dorm pack, business attire, mentors, emergency assistance, and professional advancement seminars while requiring a high degree of accountability and continued self-assessment from its recipients.

Alabama School Public Relations Association Scholarship

Due January 1- $500- For students who plan to enroll in an Alabama public college or university and who plan to seek a degree in communication, public relations, or a related field; must have a minimun GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  Applicants who participate in a school organization related to journalism, public relations, communication, student media, or marketing, or who are members of a local, state, or national public relations organization are preferred.

Foundation for Individual Rights in Education

Due January 1st.  One $10,000 1st Prize, one $5000 2nd Prize, and three $1000 runner-up prizes will be awarded for the best essays.  Four $500 winners will be chosen from the remaining entrants in a drawing.

Linly Heflin Women's Scholarship

Due in January.  Open to Alabama women who have both significant economic need and a sound academic record.  Scholarship is restricted to four year, Alabama, SACS accredited colleges. Must be an Alabama resident and a U.S. citizen and have a minimum 22 ACT score.  Must have financial needs and academic proficiency.

Gates Millennium Scholars Program

Due in January.  Open to African American Students who have a 3.3 GPA (unweighted) or higher, have financial need, and have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities.

Auburn Agriculture Scholarship

Due in January- Must plan to major in Food Science, Pre-Vet, Environmental Science, Fishery, Aquaculture, Agricultural Communication, Agriculture Business.

Region's Riding Forward Scholarship

Due in February- $5000.  Seniors who are legal residents of Alabama with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0

KFC Colonel's Scholars

Due in the spring.  Must have a 2.75 and plan on attending a 4 year institution.

Jefferson State Scholarships

College Counts Scholarship

$4000 for four- year college enrollees and $2,000 for two-year college enrollees.  High school seniors who are U.S. citizens and Alabama residents with demonstrated financial need.  Must be planning to enroll in an Alabama eligible educational institution in the fall.  Minimum GPA of 2.75 and must have an ACT score of 26 or below.  Applications open in January.  Applicants must meet  all listed eligibility criteria to apply for this scholarship.  Awards are determined through an application process.  Non-renewable award granted on a semester basis.  First dollar scholarship to be applied to tuition, fees and books required for course load.

Alabama Home Builders Foundation Scholarship

Due in March- Students who want to pursue careers in the core trades of the home building industry.  Applicants must enroll in a construction-related curriculum at an Alabama college, university, or technical school.  Visit the scholarships page on the foundation website.

Alfa Insurance Scholarship Program

Due in March- $1000- Students planning to enroll in a college/university in Alabama.  Each scholarship applicant must be a member of the Alabama Farmers Federation and the membership must be issued in the name of the scholarship applicant.  An annual membership fee if $30.00 and includes travel discounts and other benefits.  To join, contact an Alfa agent or apply online.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Scholarship

Due in March- Students who have demonstrated academic merit and community service.  $7000 in scholarships will be awarded to deserving Birmingham metropolitan area students.  Scholarships are awarded for Academic Merit and Community Service.  Additionally, two $500 scholarships will be awarded to students interested in pursuing a career in education.

Coosa Pines Federal Credit Union Scholarship

Due in the spring.  10 $1,000 scholarships are available for graduating high school members of Coosa Pines FCU.  Scholarships will be awarded to students, Coos Pines FCU members, who exemplify credit union values of personal and civic responsibility through their grades, extracurricular activities, essay responses, letters of recommendation, and/or community service.

Big Sun Scholarship

Due in June for student athletes.  Must write a 500-1000 word essay- How did your participation in sports during your high school years influence you?  Has your participation influenced your career goals?  Has your participation influenced how you relate to your family?  Include your name and school.

Cavey Law Scholarship

$1000 scholarship for any student with a 3.0 GPA that has been accepted to a University in the United States.

Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship

The Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship was established in 2001.  Janice Scott was one of the 125 people killed in the Pentagon attack on September 11, 2001.  Selections of recipients are based primarily on financial need.  It is due March 31st.

Feels Like Home Scholarship

Due October 17

To Be Eligible for the Feels Like Home Scholarship:

1) You must be a graduating senior in high school or a current freshman, sophomore, or junior in college.

2) You must be between the ages of 16 and 22.

3) We reserve the right to verify the date of your high school graduation and/or college enrollment.

4) Any and all content may be used in future marketing.

10 Words or Less Scholarship

Worth $500.00.  Due November 1st.

Elks Most Valuable Student Competition

The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants.  Due November 1st.

1) Any high school senior who is a citizen of the United States is eligible to apply.

2) Applicants need not be related to a member of the Elks.

3) College students are not eligible to apply.

4) Applicants must be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are signed; permanent legal resident status does not qualify.

5) Male and female students compete separately.

VIP Scholarship

To be eligible for the VIP $5000 scholarship you must:

A) Must be at least 13 years of age or older.

B) Submit your entry by 11:59 pm ET on the day of the deadline.

C) You can submit multiple entries by following the instructions on the sponsors website.

D)  Due August 31st.
